Internship

In January 2012 the ISS launched the Transnational Threats and International Crimes Division (TTIC). The International Crime in Africa Programme (ICAP) forms part of this Division and works to improve the awareness and capacity of African countries to end impunity by responding effectively to international crime, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and terrorism.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting ICAP staff with the planning and coordination of high-level training and specialised technical assistance to a wide range of law enforcement, criminal justice officials and civil society actors working in the field of international criminal justice and counter-terrorism in Africa. The position also entails research and report writing in relation to the programme’s work on international criminal justice and counter-terrorism. The position might involve some travel in Africa under the supervision of senior staff.

Requirements:

  • Degree in law, international relations, social science or African politics
  • Knowledge of international criminal justice and counter-terrorism in Africa
  • Research and writing skills
  • Administrative support experience
  • Ability to speak French will be an advantage
